I think a dragon can have wings but also doesn’t have to have them. It can have fur too, but usually not totally covering it, but it can still be a dragon with fur. I think they can also have feathers. They also don’t have to breathe fire.

i think dragons are creatures based off reptiles with unspecific powers. I think that some carry knowledge far beyond a human's. I also believe that they can be scales, fur, skin, and feathers but they all have one thing in common and that is a mind of their own. I do not think that they are pets at all although i think some just carry less knowledge.

~ I have a very big imagination so i censored myself so i won't sound crazy haha XD

I think that a dragon can have fur, feather, scales, wings or no wigs and may or may not be able to spit fire but must have some sort of ability. Not all dragons are going to look alike and not all of them are going to live in the same environment. So I think there look should be fitting to how they live or the region they live in.

Dragons of the Western standard tend to have a cat like body, snake neck, and bat or bird wings. It is not uncommon to see these dragons with lion faces or a hybred of dog bird and lion. Most are in the form of gargoyles on Churches or castles.
Their is no real defintion for dragon. Just whatever strikes horror or respect from the people of that land. Some people believe that dinosuars were the dragons in history.

Anything reptile-based. Does not have to have wings, fire, or scales. Think about dinosaurs, a lot of people call crocs and alligators dragons as well as some smaller lizards.

Do you think Godzilla was a dragon? That is what he always was called! xD

About Godzilla, I'm hesitating ... Normally, I agree with you but ... Godzilla have some thing as humain ... Antro, so I think antrho isn't really a dragon. I think dragon should be quadruped.

And you ? What do you think about ?

Mmmm anthro can be dragon. What if I took let’s say Saphira from Eragon and made her stand on two legs and shorten her face to have human features? She still has wings, a tail, scales, and breaths fire. So I think yes, anthro can be anything with human attributes, including a dragon.

Dragons are, probably the most diverse of mythical creatures. They can be anything you want, which gives you lots of artistic creativity.

Pretty much if it is a large (over 3-4 feet long at the shoulder) reptile I'd call it a dragon xD

Yeah, fire breath would make it a dragon. I was more saying if it doesn't have any powers but has that size it is a dragon. There are real dragons even, Chinese Water Dragons, Komodo Dragons, etc

I think it's the first and fourth option combined:)
Although I'm okay with small bits of fur, like a mane or something, but not completely covered in hair. Feathered wings are also alright with me, and maye the tip of the tail.
Scales are definately a must though.
Just as long as you can clearly see it's a dragon, because otherwise I'd name it a different species.

What do you think of the "chinese dragon" who are sometimes covered of fur and wing less?

Those are to me a different category of dragons, since they're quite different from what I consider "regular" dragons. They still have many dragon-like traits, such as the scales and the claws and the general "reptile" look and head. But it's the lack of wings and the presence of fur is what distinguishes chinese dragons from the others.
Also I think they are generally accepted as dragons because they're always depicted like that in the Chinese culture.

It's subjective, obviously, but I think generally, a dragon is a large reptile.

Personally, I believe that a 'dragon' can be anything at all. There's never been a documented specimen of a real life dragon, we just assume it's a creature with scales that was breathe fire because it's what we learned about it. But if one can break outside of the shell that is the general definition of "dragons of old", people might realize that the word is just a coined term for the beast. A dragon, in my opinion, can be small, medium, or huge - have large wings, small wings, or no wings at all - can have any amount of limbs - can be covered in scales, fur, skin, feathers, etc - and have a supernatural power, or none at all. Dragons are a figment of imagination, just like an imaginary friend would be. So one person's perception of a dragon can be waaaaaay different than the next guy's. Sort of like the phrase, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", so is the image, biology, and anatomy of what one believes is a dragon.

Gotta love dragons :D

i think that dragons can be a creature with a reptile basis with some great power, wither it be breathing fire or great knowledge and strength. They don't necessarily have to have wings, though it does add to the effect

yeah.. it's difficult to explain.. each person got a different idea of what it's called a dragon... but I would see the chimera more like a mixed creature with animal but without wings.. dragon with wings and the animal part unrecognizable XD

I think it should technically be "A mythical animal with scales, wings and a long tail, can not have hair or feathers", buuuut a lot of people on dA have taken the word 'dragon' into their own interpretation just as any reptile character :u
